Neill-Cochran House Museum
Please note: Neill-Cochran House Museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
The Neill-Cochran House Museum historic site is home to one of the city's oldest residences (1856) and the only intact slave dwelling left in Austin. A few minutes' walk from UT-Austin, the Museum shares Austin history through the eyes of those who lived it through historically furnished spaces as well as numerous rotating art and history exhibitions.

Pioneer Farms

Pioneer Farms is a registered historic site and living history park in Austin, Texas, offering visitors a chance to step back into 19th century Texas at more than a dozen restored farmstead and native homesites, a rural village, family-friendly events and activities, nature trails and engaging exhibits displaying Lone Star history from 1899 to 1839. Located on nearly 100 bucolic tree-shaded acres at 10621 Pioneer Farms Dr, Austin, TX 78754, the museum provides unique historical programs, Texas Folk Arts School classes and workshops in blacksmithing and other 1800s crafts, family friendly events, volunteer opportunities and more that celebrate Texas heritage and frontier life in a serene outdoor setting located near downtown Austin. The site also features animal encounters with wildlife and livestock, including what is reputed to be the largest urban herd of Longhorn cattle in the state.

LBJ Presidential Library & Museum
The LBJ Presidential Library & Museum, located at 2313 Red River Street in Austin, Texas, is a comprehensive repository and museum dedicated to the life, presidency, and legacy of Lyndon B. Johnson. The facility offers an immersive experience with exhibits, archival collections, and multimedia presentations that explore Johnson’s leadership, the Great Society, civil rights, and U.S. history from the mid-20th century. Visitors can explore authentic artifacts, presidential papers, and interactive displays that provide insight into Johnson’s impact on American policy and daily life. The library serves as a public resource for education, research, and reflection on American democracy. In March of 2026 the LBJ Library revealed a multi-million dollar renovation that updates the 4,500 square-foot permanent exhibit on the fourth floor, which features immersive, hands-on interactives and dynamic films that link President Lyndon B.
